WOW. It's been a week since we launched and we made our goal!! I am SO EXCITED! I was driving to Sedona, Arizona when it happened: My phone service was inconsistent, but I kept updating to see the news. And then… it happened! And it materialized because of the TREMENDOUS support we've received from our community near and far. Seriously, we have received support all around the world -- hello, Australia, Germany and Colombia! I am so honored by your support. This means that we are going to make this film. There is no turning back. And that reality makes me giddy with excitement! We've been collecting a team of talented, passionate, individuals and together we are gearing up to make a really special project.
Our journey is far from over, though. In many ways, it's just begun. With 13 days left to go in the campaign, I hope to see if we can make it to our stretch goal of $7,500. Every single dollar counts. Sometimes it's hard to know what money will go toward in indie filmmaking, but I can tell you right now. As I said in our video, the look of the film is vital, and replicating the 1940s will be our biggest challenge. We've already begun location scouting and have found some incredible options. Some of the best sites (ones with realistic 1940s details, such as vintage stoves and tiling) exceed our original budget. Additionally, getting access to a WWII era military uniform will be expensive.
I want to encourage you to keep spreading the word and sharing our campaign. And if you were considering donating, but held off, I'd love for you to consider it again. There are still ways that we can enhance our production with your help! Let's make this movie together, and let's make it the best darn film we can!! Thank you for your continued support! WE. ARE. MAKING. A. MOVIE!!!!!!
That's right, folks, our Kickstarter is live and online (!)
The K.I.A. team has been working hard the last few weeks to get this ready and now we're done it. We've been so fortunate to have so much support and enthusiasm for the project already -- from our collaborators to organizations like the Puffin Foundation. And we are SO close to getting this short made -- you can help us cross the finish line.
And I should mention that we have some pretty cool rewards, too! My favorite is the chance to be featured in the actual film in a vintage photo (we'll photoshop you in).
Check out the project and help us spread the word!
