Over the weekend, producer Bea and I had a blast driving around the San Fernando Valley to begin scouting locations. We had a few leads for specific residences to start, but then enjoyed finding pockets of homes that cropped up after the war. Armed with the zillow app, we were able to confirm the year that each house was built, and it really began to tell the history of how each neighborhood cropped up...
For our film, we are looking for a home built prior to 1948, one that is well-maintained and feels like it belongs in "Everytown, USA". Here are two of our favorite houses. What do you think?

I'm super excited to be writing this post right now. It commemorates the beginning of this journey. Now as with many beginnings, it is not really the beginning. Let me explain...
Some time ago, a few friends of mine would give out monthly writing prompts to get everyone writing and creating new projects. The prompt they gave was "Secret". I wrote a short film about around this idea but before I could pursue it, I got knee deep in production for my webseries Squaresville (which you should totally check out here). So the script sat there. Collecting dust. Er, digital dust. Then, at the end of 2013, I found the file on my computer and reread it. The story still nagged at me and I decided to rewrite it. And, well, here I am in June and I am planning to shoot the bugger! If you're reading this, that means you must be interested in this film for some reason, so thank you. Thank you for joining me on this journey! Let's see what we can create together... |
